In planet 4, we turn our attention to long vowels. In this level, we'll focus on the long a sound in words that have a silent e at the end.

A couple of additional teaching points here: students should learn that in words ending with -ace, the c makes its soft sound; for a hard k sound, the word generally will end with -ake.

This is a good chance to review the -ck endings from level 3-1 as well, pointing out the difference in sound from an -ack ending to an -ake ending. Those can be tricky for students!
