Level 11-2

Prefixes #2 -- in, im, il, and ir

impossible, irregular, illegal, invisible, immature, imperfect, incapable, illiterate, impatient, improper

This is our second level focusing on prefixes. In this level, students will work with words that begin with the in, im, il, and ir prefixes, all of which mean not.

Something that is impossible is not possible. Something that is illegal is not legal.

Even though these prefixes all mean not, they aren't interchangeable. You can't say something is inpossible, for example. It takes practice and repeated use to know which prefix goes with each root word!
