The ten words in this level are all focused on one common pattern: the short a vowel sound.

These ten words also follow a consonant-vowel-consonant (or CVC) pattern (with the exception of the word am). More than half of all consonants are represented in at least one of the words, giving students a good chance to practice individual consonant sounds as well.
