Viewing Student Results

One great feature of Rocket Spelling is the ability to see all of your students' progress at a glance through the Progress tab in your teacher account. We wanted to make sure you noticed, though, that each cell in that spreadsheet can be clicked for additional information, as seen here:

Free Classroom Accounts: Offer Extended!

Since Rocket Spelling launched last month, we've been giving away free classroom accounts for the entire 2017-2018 school year using coupon code 'rocketlaunch.' It has been fun and rewarding to see the response we've received to this point -- thousands of teachers and tens of thousands of students have already benefited from this offer.

But we know that this is just the tip of the iceberg. Many people are still just discovering Rocket Spelling, and we want them to have a chance to try it for free as well. With that in mind, we are extending our 'rocketlaunch' coupon code, which allows teachers to get a completely free, no-strings-attached Rocket Spelling classroom account for the entire 2017-2018 school year. This free offer will now be available through the end of October!

The Rocket Spelling Vision

Our vision here at Rocket Spelling is this: We believe that spelling is an important skill for students to develop, and we believe that students deserve to be taught spelling in a fun, differentiated way that allows them to grow as quickly as possible.

Students who struggle with spelling often conflate spelling with writing and end up thinking of themselves as poor writers. Many times students' spelling woes are completely unnecessary -- they often come about either as the result of instruction that focuses too little time on phonemic awareness, or they come because students simply never were inspired to learn through the traditional weekly spelling test routine.

Rocket Spelling is meant to change the way spelling is practiced in the classroom.

Uploading Class Rosters on Rocket Spelling

One of the underutilized features on Rocket Spelling is the ability to mass-upload your entire class of students to our site, creating their accounts in just seconds.

When you first create an account on Rocket Spelling, one of the first things you'll be directed to do is set up your students' accounts. This can also be done later in the manage tab of your account.

We know you’re busy, so we’ve streamlined this process. You can quickly mass-enter students’ information by clicking the Add Multiple Students button and copying and pasting your entire class list from a document or spreadsheet.

Why No Grade Levels?

When creating Rocket Spelling, we purposely decided not to break the site up into separate grade levels. Our hope was that students would be able to work on differentiated spelling practice at their own pace without worrying about whether they were "ahead" or "behind" of words that we had designated were at a specific grade level.

Class Codes

When we designed Rocket Spelling, we wanted to make it so that you could select usernames and passwords easily. For example, if your school has a certain computer login and password combination for each student in your school, we wanted you to be able to simply use those here as well. To make that possible, we added class codes to every teacher's account. This class code allows for there to be more than one student on Rocket Spelling with the same username (as long as they are in different classes).

Differentiated Spelling Practice

Rocket Spelling can help you to differentiate your classroom spelling instruction. Here are a few different ways that you could use Rocket Spelling to differentiate your students' spelling:

  1. Give Rocket Spelling levels as a pretest to see where your students are at. You might consider having students try a various collection of levels, for example those on short vowels, to see what your students already know before you've taught a certain topic.

2.
